ScanSpace Studio for Mac

The desktop companion for your scans.

  • View scans in 3D: textures, surface labels, point cloud, height cut, measuring.
  • Clean: crop, box-select & delete, remove floating pieces, smooth, drop outlier points, level & square up walls — all undoable.
  • Process captures again with much larger textures (up to 4 × 8K).
  • Blueprint: walls with thickness, doors, windows, rooms and areas extracted from the mesh or point cloud → PDF, SVG, DXF (CAD), PNG, or a clean 3D model.

  1. Unzip and drag ScanSpace Studio into Applications.
  2. The app isn’t notarized by Apple, so the first launch is blocked: open it, click Done, then go to System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway.
  3. On the iPhone, open a scan › Export › ScanSpace Studio (Mac) and AirDrop the .scanspace file to your Mac — it opens in Studio. Models from other apps (PLY, OBJ, STL, USDZ) work too.

Questions

Why isn’t this in the App Store?
ScanSpace is installed straight from this page. iOS still requires every app to be signed by an Apple account: the one-tap button uses the owner’s developer signature (your iPhone must be registered for it), while SideStore and AltStore sign the app with your own free Apple ID.
“Unable to install” or “integrity could not be verified”
The one-tap build only installs on iPhones whose UDID is in the signing profile. Ask the owner to add your device, or use the SideStore / AltStore option instead.
“Developer Mode required”
Open Settings › Privacy & Security › Developer Mode, switch it on and restart when asked. It’s needed for apps signed with a free Apple ID.
The app stopped opening after a week
Apps signed with a free Apple ID expire after 7 days. Open SideStore or AltStore and tap Refresh (AltStore can refresh automatically when AltServer runs on your computer on the same Wi-Fi). Your scans stay on the phone.
Which iPhones work?
Any iPhone or iPad with a LiDAR Scanner on iOS 17 or later: iPhone 12 Pro / Pro Max and every newer Pro model (including the iPhone 15 Pro), and iPad Pro 2020 or newer.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Scanning, processing and exporting all happen on your iPhone (and in ScanSpace Studio, on your Mac). Nothing leaves your devices unless you share an export.
“ScanSpace Studio” can’t be opened / Apple could not verify it
macOS shows this for apps that aren’t notarized through a paid Apple Developer account. Click Done, open System Settings › Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway next to the ScanSpace Studio message and confirm. You only need to do this once per download. Studio needs macOS 14 Sonoma or later and runs on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
